[ Surf a Pup ]

We had a fabulous weekend. Fab.U.Lous. We went on another family camping trip to a small bible camp only 2 hours way. Despite the bugs being horrible and the heat, those didn't even seem to matter when we were swimming the perfect temperature lake, jumping on the water trampoline, eating incredible food that came only in vast quantities, or just sitting around enjoying each others' company. The Hubs and I have been using his parents' pop-up trailer since they've upgraded a bit to a 5-wheel. For someone who only knew the world of camping in a non-waterproof tent, a pop-up trailer is the 5 star world of camping to me. No bugs. No rain. A plug in for a fan. Drawers to organize things like plates & cutlery. I love it! It's a little home away from home! And the best part is that the dog can come with us, stay in his own little kennel and is the easiest to have along. [ God is in Elections ]

I voted for the first time!!! I had the honor of voting this past week in my very first American election. I watched debates, read articles and and researched the different issues at hand. For the first time in my life, I dove into the world of elections and was educated on a whole new system. I thoroughly enjoyed learning how electoral votes works versus the popular vote. I learned how important one single vote can be, especially locally. But, the most important thing that I learned throughout this entire process is that despite different opinions, different outcomes, how great our God is. As the outcome of the election came out, I was stunned by the sheer number of status updates and tweets that talked about pending doom and destruction. They bashed the newly re-elected President. Their words were harsh and many were unkind. I admit that I was surprised by the election and the man that I voted for, did not win. However, my response was one that was very different from others.

Avoiding Good-Byes.

The Hubs and I had the pleasure of hosting my mother for a week. It was a fantastic week! I even took some time off of work to enjoy some Minnesotan activities with her. We got to begin our Maple Syrup Season in our Sugar Shack back in the woods. We tapped 40 trees and even had the great surprise of collecting 56 gallons of sap one afternoon. Due to the recent heat wave (high 40's!) we had to trek out in our rubber boots and galoshes through the marsh to make it to the Sugar Shack. It was a blast starting up the syrup season with her here. We got to experience another 5 inches of snow, which for an Albertan/Oregonian can be kind of exciting, especially when you fly out the next day and can leave the cold, wet snow behind. We got to go for grande-no water-5 pump-chais, have great talks (you just can't have the same kind on the phone), get our nails done....
